Barack Obama isn't running for president in 2016, but his Election Day routine hasn't changed.

According to NBC Chicago, Obama has played basketball on every Election Day throughout his presidential tenure.

Well, almost every Election Day.

Obama didn't shoot hoops on the day of the New Hampshire primary in 2008. He lost that primary election to none other than Hillary Clinton.

And so the superstition was born.

NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen joined Obama on Election Day in 2012. The former Chicago Bulls all-star had good things to say about Obama's game.

"He's not an overly aggressive player, but he takes what the defense gives him," Pippen said, per ESPN. "He's got a smooth game. He probably used to be a little more aggressive, but obviously, he doesn't want to get hurt."

Though Obama has less of a stake in Tuesday's presidential election than he did the past two, he's been vocal in supporting Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Obama isn't taking any chances this year. Game on.
