BBC presenter wins posthumous radio award for cancer podcast

Rachael Bland touched many people's lives through her work as a presenter on BBC Radio 5 Live. Bland died in early September from breast cancer after sharing her experience of living with cancer on her podcast, "You, Me and The Big C".

Less than two months after her death, Bland has won a posthumous radio award.

Bland, 40, died on Sept. 5. She is survived by her husband Steve and her son Freddie.

Steve attended the Audio and Radio Industry Awards (ARIAs) on Thursday and collected the Best New Show award on Rachael's behalf, joined by her co-presenters Lauren Mahon and Deborah James.

"I know Rachael would have been so proud too," wrote Steve on Twitter.

Co-presenter James tweeted: "I'm beyond proud and I know Rach is too."
